During the summer the course „Empowerment planning in municipalities” was held in Amata. Two days at the end of June and two days at the end of August were devoted to the issues of empowerment, public health, public participation and leadership. The objective of the course was to raise awareness of empowerment planning tools, methods and actions at local and regional policy levels. Thus, in order to accumulate skills, the representatives from municipalities in Vidzeme Region attended not only lectures, but also participated in the practical workshops. The course was organised by HEPPROGRESS Project, and led by academics – Associate Professor Iveta Reinholde from University of Latvia, and Professor Roar Amdam from Volda Highschool.The practical group work on empowerment planning together with exercises on development of leadership competences formed a backbone for future work at the municipal level tackling health created inequalities.
