A public health conference in Warsaw enabled other partners to learn about public health work in the Polish captital.

– The Health Policy Department of the City of Warsaw has since 2003 worked towards cooperating with a number of sectors of the municipality in addition to relevant organisations in Warsaw connected to the Healthy Cities approach, said Aurelia Ostrowska, head of the Health Policy Department.

The aim of the conference in Warsaw was to introduce this approach. During the conference, partners received information about disease prevention programs directed to all age groups in Warsaw, health care services based on the experiences of clients, the Health Policy Department´s experiences in protecting mass events, investments at health care facilities, cooperation with NGOs in relation to health care, and Warsaw´s development stategy until 2020.

– HEPRO project is one of Norway´s international projects connected to public health and planning. The project will enable us to move on with issues that we are already involved in, Ostrovska said.

Partners from Poland and representatives from the HEPRO management team participated at the conference. In addition, the partners were given the opportunity to acquaint themselves with actors working on safety-related activities in Warsaw through visiting the Safe in the City festival.
