Østfold has been designated as a member of the WHO Healthy Cities network Phase V, continuing its membership from Phase IV.
- We are proud and happy to receive information that our membership has been renewed for the next phase. Cooperating with the Healthy Cities movement has been very profitable for our public health work, says retiring Healthy Cities Coordinator in Østfold Mr Arvid Wangberg.
Wangberg will now pass on the coordinator responsibilities to Mr Knut-Johan Rognlien.
- As a region, we believe we can actually represent an added value to the network, because our public health work is carried out on a national, regional and local level, says Rognlien.
Phase V (2009-2013) of the WHO Healthy Cities project will have the overarching goal of health and health equity in all local policies. The network of cities and regions will focus on those who are vulnerable and socially disadvantaged. Members will choose a number of relevant topics from each of the three core themes, which are
• Caring and supporting environments • Healthy living • Healthy Urban Environment
