HEPROGRESS monitored the health of our citizens as a basis for targeted prevention and health promotion, with the intention of keeping people out of the treatment systems
as long as possible.

Social inequalities in health could only be reduced if those who controlled the social determinants of health had sufficient expertise and motivation. Therefore, HEPROGRESS sought to build knowledge and competence among politicians and professionals in order to motivate them to reduce social inequalities in health in Østfold and the Vidzeme Region. It was demonstrated that to reduce social inequalities in health in the two regions, good and strong long term leadership and cooperation with other actors was required. It was also essential that the actors complied with the principle of health in all policies.
